My dearest child, my heart’s own light, The years have slipped like stars at night. I held you once, so small, so new, And now you stand—so tall, so true. Eighteen years have come and flown, Like whispered seeds the wind has sown. I watched you stumble, watched you rise, With tear-filled eyes and proud goodbyes.
